Denver Broncos Sign Oregon TE Terrance Ferguson to Five-Year, $80 Million Deal

In a significant move to bolster their offensive lineup, the Denver Broncos have reached an agreement with former Oregon Ducks tight end Terrance Ferguson on a five-year, $80 million contract, which includes $40 million guaranteed. This acquisition reunites Ferguson with his college quarterback, Bo Nix, and marks a homecoming for the Colorado native.

Ferguson, a standout at Oregon, concluded his collegiate career as the program’s all-time leader among tight ends in receptions (134) and receiving touchdowns (16), while ranking second in receiving yards with 1,537. His versatility and consistent performance made him a top target for Nix during their tenure with the Ducks.

The Broncos’ interest in Ferguson was evident leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft. Reports indicated that Denver hosted Ferguson for a pre-draft visit, highlighting their intent to strengthen the tight end position. Ferguson’s impressive performance at the NFL Scouting Combine further solidified his status as a top prospect. He recorded a 4.63-second 40-yard dash, showcasing the speed and athleticism that the Broncos found appealing.

The connection between Ferguson and Nix is expected to bring immediate chemistry to Denver’s offense. During their time at Oregon, Ferguson was a reliable target for Nix, amassing 74 receptions for 805 yards and 11 touchdowns over two seasons. This established rapport is anticipated to translate seamlessly to the professional level, providing a boost to the Broncos’ passing game.

Ferguson’s return to Colorado holds personal significance. A native of Littleton and a graduate of Heritage High School, he expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of playing in front of family and friends. “It’d be cool to play back in front of my family again and reunite with some teammates,” Ferguson remarked during the pre-draft process.

The signing aligns with the Broncos’ strategic efforts to enhance their offensive capabilities under head coach Sean Payton. Known for his innovative offensive schemes, Payton is expected to utilize Ferguson’s versatility effectively. Ferguson’s ability to line up in various positions, including as an H-back, slot receiver, and wide receiver, adds a dynamic element to Denver’s offense.

General Manager George Paton emphasized the importance of adding a player of Ferguson’s caliber. “Terrance brings a unique skill set that complements our offensive vision. His familiarity with Bo and his proven track record at Oregon make him an invaluable addition to our team,” Paton stated.

The financial commitment reflects the Broncos’ confidence in Ferguson’s potential impact. The $80 million deal, with $40 million guaranteed, underscores the organization’s belief in his ability to contribute significantly in the coming seasons.

As the Broncos prepare for the upcoming season, the addition of Ferguson is poised to enhance their offensive dynamics. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how this reunion between Ferguson and Nix translates on the field, with expectations high for a revitalized and potent offensive performance.
