Dodgers Make Roster Move Recall Another Pitcher From Triple-A..
The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Ryan Loutos and optioned left-hander Justin Wrobleski, the team announced Friday.
Wrobleski pitched four innings out of the bullpen Thursday night against the Athletics. The left-hander threw four strikeouts and allowed just one hit across four innings pitched.
The Dodgers traded for Loutos from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for cash at the start of May. With Triple-A Oklahoma City, the right-hander has a 2.38 ERA with eight strikeouts and 0.88 WHIP across 11.1 innings pitched.
Loutos will look to have that same kind of production with the big league team for their series this weekend against the Los Angeles Angels.
In 2024, Loutos began the season with Triple-A Memphis. He produced a 1.72 ERA with 18 strikeouts and four saves across 13 appearances.

Loutos made three big league appearances for the Cardinals last season. Across 2.1 innings pitched, the right-hander allowed just two hits and no runs for an ERA of 0.00. The 26-year-old made his Major League debut last year with St. Louis in June.

Kim Hye-seong shines with career game for Dodgers..
Rookie infielder Kim Hye-seong (26) of the Los Angeles Dodgers continued his hot streak at the plate in Major League Baseball. After hitting his first big league home run on May 15, he followed up with a perfect day on May 16, reaching base five times.
Batting ninth and playing second base in a home game against the Oakland Athletics, Kim went 3-for-3 with two walks, two RBIs, and four runs scored. He singled to right in the second inning, singled to left in the third, and hit a double down the left field line in the eighth. His batting average for the season rose to .429, with 12 hits in 28 at-bats.
Kim reached base in all five plate appearances and helped lead the Dodgers to a dominant 19-2 victory. The performance marked his personal best in hits, RBIs, runs scored, and times on base since making his MLB debut on May 4. It was also his first game with a double and a walk. He recorded his third stolen base of the season in the second inning.
Kim crossed home plate ahead of Shohei Ohtani’s two home runs, a three-run shot in the third inning and a two-run blast in the fourth, bringing Ohtani’s season total to 15. The game featured a Shohei Ohtani bobblehead giveaway in honor of his historic 50 home run, 50 stolen base season last year. With the two home runs, Ohtani moved into a tie with Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) for the league lead in homers.
Blue Jays’ $63 Million Pitcher Could Fill Phillies Rotation Gap After Aaron Nola Injury..
The Philadelphia Phillies may be in the hunt for a new starting pitcher after Aaron Nola’s recent injury designation. Ahead of Friday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Nola was officially placed on the 15-day injured list with a right ankle sprain. Mick Abel is being called up to take his place temporarily in the rotation and will start Sunday. However, the Phillies can look outside of the organization for a potential trade target especially with Nola struggling this season. Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt is certainly an option for the Phillies. Through nine.
starts this season, Bassitt has recorded a 3.16 ERA with 55 strikeouts for the Blue Jays. His pitching has certainly helped keep Toronto alive in a competitive American League East division. While his ERA would be fourth-best in the Phillies rotation, that is more of a compliment to how well Zack Wheeler, Christopher Sanchez, Jesus Luzardo and Taijuan Walker have pitched this season. Having all five starting pitchers with an ERA under 3.50 would set up the Phillies to have one of the best rotations in baseball heading into the postseason. Bassitt is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, making him a prime candidate to be dealt if the Blue Jays fall off. Pair that with the team unlikely to retain him due to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. being paid $500 million over the next 14 years, and there’s a good chance the 36-year-old pitcher finishes the season wearing a different uniform. If that happens, the Phillies should be pursuing Bassitt to bolster the pitching staff ahead of a potential playoff run.
