Tottenham Hotspur full-back Pedro Porro is now a doubt for the North London Derby at the end of this month after picking up a hamstring issue vs Newcastle United.
Spurs were 2-0 down against Eddie Howe’s men when Porro stretched to block Alexander Isak’s flick towards goal. While the Spanish defender managed to block the shot for a corner, he soon collapsed to the turf in pain.
As the physio team rushed to his aide, you could spot that Porro had his head in his hands and was holding his hamstring. After passing on this information, the Spurs bench quickly brought Emerson Royal on with the 24-year-old coming off under his own steam.
Depending on the severity of the injury, Porro could miss the clash with Arsenal on Sunday, April 28. Players who sustain hamstring injuries during matches can take up to two and six weeks to recover.
Even if Porro is out for a minimum of two weeks, he will be touch and go to face the Gunners which is now just 15 days away. The right-back has been a near ever-present member of the Spurs squad this season with 31 appearances under his belt in all competitions.
Just last month, manager Ange Postecoglou praised the impact of Porro since he signed for the club in the summer. He told the club’s official website: “It’s brilliant and well deserved [call-up for the Spain national team] – he’s been outstanding all year.

“He’s worked awfully hard on his game on both the offensive and defensive side. We’ve obviously put some different demands on that position, but he’s adapted so well and credit to him, he’s worked really hard.”
