The Rams Are ‘Not Happy’ With Matthew Stafford’s Wife, Kelly

Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, likes to talk – a lot. The Rams appear to have a problem with that.

Trade rumors have been swirling for the Los Angeles Rams quarterback for a couple of weeks now. Matthew Stafford, 37, is coming off a strong season. The Rams advanced to the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs, before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Kelly Stafford has not been shy discussing the trade rumors.

Kelly Stafford first spoke out in response to the Rams planning to trade veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp. She wasn’t happy about that.

“Someone who welcomes me with open arms into this city, who can always make me smile, and constantly helps me realize what really matters. Dunno what this place is gonna look like without you. I dunno if I wanna find out,” she wrote.

Now, Kelly Stafford is not-so-subtly addressing the quarterback trade rumors on Instagram.

“Future might be blurry but the present is always clear with you🤪,” she wrote.

It always gets messy when the spouses of professional athletes make headlines for their comments on social media. Kelly Stafford has done this plenty of times in the past, so Matthew must be OK with it. The Rams, however, do not appear to be.

The Rams are reportedly growing “tired” of Kelly Stafford’s behavior.

“The Rams like Matt Stafford, but they’re tiring of the constant quarterback talk, his wife saying things publicly,” Colin Cowherd said Thursday on his show. “They’re not real happy with Cooper Kupp going public with something they tried to keep quiet … They’re kinda over Cooper Kupp, and with that, a little bit Matt Stafford. They like him, but they don’t want to restructure his deal and give him a new contract.”

Kelly Stafford, meanwhile, has said that she didn’t “plan” on discussing the trade rumors, but she decided to address things on her “The Morning After” podcast.

“I honestly wasn’t planning on discussing this, but hell, why not,” she said on her podcast “The Morning After” on Feb. 6. “My husband, like, wants to win. He’s not trying to put a team in a bad situation. If you’re catching my drift, you’re catching my drift.”

“I will say, the trading away of Cooper? … I’m confused, because we were one play away from going to the NFC Championship. I have to be the dog in this situation — I want the respect for him that he deserves. I love the city of L.A. With that being said … I love an adventure.”

The Staffords have been in Los Angeles since the trade from Detroit in March of 2021.

Perhaps they’ll have a new NFL home in 2025, though.
