It’s been nearly a month since Elliotte Friedman’s report that the Vancouver Canucks are testing the market for forwards J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson, but there hasn’t been much movement on either front.
Asking price for J.T. Miller & Elias Pettersson reportedly too high
Aside from a couple of close calls in the last two weeks that would’ve sent J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers and Elias Pettersson to the Carolina Hurricanes, trade talks have been pretty quiet recently for the Vancouver Canucks.
It appears the reason for that is the high asking price on J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson, according to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, who added that teams are waiting for that price to come down a bit.
On the Elias Pettersson front, LeBrun mentions that the Columbus Blue Jackets have begun preliminary discussions on a trade with the Vancouver Canucks for him, with the Buffalo Sabres also in the mix.
It’s unclear what the asking price is for either J.T. Miller or Elias Pettersson, but as teams around the league say, it’s high, which makes sense given what both players are capable of.
The asking price for Elias Pettersson is likely higher than J.T. Miller given his age and that he’s in his prime right now, while the latter might have a couple of good seasons left before he starts to regress.
We’ll wait and see where things go over the coming weeks, but it won’t be a shock to anyone if both Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller are dealt by Patrik Allvin before Friday, March 7th.
