Shockwaves in Kansas City: Chiefs Fan Favorite Drops Major Hint About Leaving in Free Agency Shake-Up

The Kansas City Chiefs have unearthed one of the NFL’s more underrated defensive players.

Now, K.C. has to keep him around.

George Karlaftis is entering the final season of his rookie contract in 2025. He has 24.5 sacks through 49 career games and is solid in all phases at his defensive end position.

The Chiefs’ intentions aren’t yet clear, but Karlaftis shared his thoughts with reporters on his upcoming potential free agency.

I’ll let whoever is at the handle handle that,” Karlaftis told reporters on Thursday. “But, you know, I’d like to be here as long as I can. My now-fiancé and I absolutely love Kansas City, love this organization. So, you know, I’ll let whoever is the handle handle that. But I love it here.”

Kansas City is looking to bounce back in 2025 from its Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, and that’s something at the front of Karlaftis’ mind.

“The constant pursuit of perfection, you know? Obviously, you’re going to fall short,” Karlaftis said. “But, yeah, just constantly trying to get better, you know, identifying the stuff I want to do better, I want to be better at, and kind of going from there.”

Karlaftis has been even better in his playoff career for the Chiefs.

In 10 postseason games, Karlaftis has eight sacks.

Kansas City might want to pay Karlaftis now, because if he takes some of that end-of-season form into the regular season, his price tag will only go up.
