Real Madrid Maintain Strong Admiration for PSG’s Nuno Mendes – Rodrygo and More Could Be Offered in Ambitious Swap Deal
Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close eye on Paris Saint-Germain left-back Nuno Mendes, as they continue to explore long-term reinforcements for their defensive line. Sources close to the Spanish club suggest there is serious admiration for the 22-year-old Portuguese international, whose performances at both club and international level have attracted interest across Europe.
While Mendes remains a core player in Luis Enrique’s PSG setup, the French champions are understood to be open to negotiations if the terms are right — especially if they involve Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes, a player highly valued by PSG’s hierarchy and sporting director Luis Campos.
Rodrygo, 24, has enjoyed considerable success at the Bernabéu, including Champions League and La Liga triumphs. However, with the arrival of Kylian Mbappé and the continued emergence of talents like Arda Güler and Endrick, his role in the team may gradually diminish. Madrid view this as an opportune moment to leverage Rodrygo’s high market value in pursuit of a player who could be their long-term solution at left-back.
Despite Ferland Mendy’s consistency last season and the versatility of Fran García, Madrid have lacked a true world-class left-back in the mold of their greats. Mendes, with his elite pace, defensive maturity, and attacking threat, is seen as the perfect candidate to fill that role for the next decade.
To tempt PSG into a deal, Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer Rodrygo plus additional financial compensation or even a young talent, possibly one of their Castilla stars or out-on-loan players like Álvaro Rodríguez or Brahim Díaz, depending on PSG’s preference. Madrid are also open to including future sell-on clauses or performance-based bonuses to sweeten the deal.
For PSG, such a move would bring immediate benefits. Rodrygo fits seamlessly into their system, capable of playing on either wing or as a false nine, offering creativity and goals in equal measure. He also shares a strong relationship with current and incoming Brazilian stars like Marquinhos and Lucas Beraldo, which would ease his integration in Paris.
Still, a deal of this scale would not happen overnight. PSG are wary of losing a player like Mendes, especially given his age and potential to become the world’s best in his position. However, with Real Madrid’s interest firm and Rodrygo’s value peaking, the Parisian club may consider this a rare opportunity to bolster their attacking firepower while monetizing a position they believe can be filled internally or through the market.
Negotiations are still in early stages, and neither club has officially confirmed discussions. But as the transfer window heats up, this potential blockbuster swap could gain momentum — and reshape two European giants in the process.
