The Gunners have seemingly been exploring the market to sign a new striker as they have reportedly prioritized strengthening the number nine position this summer.
Numerous forwards have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium with Isak being among them. It has been suggested that Newcastle could be forced to sell some of their stars to stay on the right side of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
So, although the Magpies don’t want to let the 24-year-old leave the club, they could cash-in on him and accept a fee of around £100m. Therefore, the Gunners will have to break the bank to secure the Swedish international’s service.
It has been reported that along with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur have also expressed a firm interest in signing him so the North London giants could go head-to-head with each other over this deal during the off-season.
Isak was in action against Everton in the Premier League a couple of days ago and scored an excellent goal early on in that game.
Cundy said:
“You have Isak right, this kid here, can you build a team around here because he’s electric? The goal he scored today reminds me of a young Thierry Henry. Cutting in from that left side and bending it towards the far corner? If they sell him where do they go from there? Sell him for £100m, what’s an extra £40m going to do?
“You read that in the paper today, then you see him put that performance in. And then a Spurs or an Arsenal come in and dangle £100m, where do they go from there?”
Isak is a versatile player as he can play multiple positions across the frontline so he would be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal if they eventually acquire his service in the upcoming window.
