There is a lot of talent in the NFL and many players are headed into free agency this offseason. Except for maybe the Eagles, who just need to sign back some of their defensive talents, rest of the 31 teams remaining needs to make changes. There are a couple of big named targets available in the 2025 Free Agency such as QB Sam Darnold, WR Tee Higgins, and G Trey Smith. With their contracts now expired, we may see some of them in a new uniform. So today we look Top 10 free agents available in 2025. Let’s get right into it.
Who are the Top 10 Free Agents available?
Let us see who are the 10 best free agents available in no particular order;
- Sam Darnold- After having a career year, playing for the Minnesota Vikings, Darnold could be on the move. The Vikings drafted rookie QB J.J. McCarthy as the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft but he tore his meniscus which kept him out for the 2024 season. The big question is, who will the Vikings keep? Will it be McCarthy or Darnold? Darnold had a signed a one-year deal with the Vikings in 2024 and emerged as their best QB. Now that his contract has expired, will the Vikings keep him or shop him around?
- Trey Smith- Even though the Chiefs’ offensive line was almost nonexistent in the Super Bowl, that cannot change how special of a talent Smith is. He may arguably be the biggest target in the free agency. He is one of the best interior lineman in the league, and that is something many teams are looking for. There are also multiple rumors that the Chiefs will not place their franchise tag or transition tag on Smith, and are willing to let him walk into the free agency.
- Tee Higgins- Higgins is probably the best wide receiver that could be available. He is a lengthy and extremely talented pass catcher who has shown flashes of being the number one option instead of second. Higgins could possibly demand upto $30 million dollars a year, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. However, the chances of signing Higgins looks slim at the moment as he was recently franchised tagged by the Bengals.
- Zack Baun- Baun was a stud for the Philadelphia Eagles ever since week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. He had a tremendous year playing for the Eagles as he was selected to the Pro Bowl, All-Pro 1st team, and was ranked fifth in the DPOY votings last season. He also showed up in the Super Bowl, intercepting a pass from Mahomes and giving the Eagles a great chance near the end line. Baun will most likely be signed back by the Eagles but if they don’t, there will be a whole lot of teams waiting for him.
- Milton Williams- Williams played out of his mind in 2024 which has placed him on this list. He is now a Super Bowl champ who also had 10 QB hits, 7 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, in the 2024 regular season which are his career best numbers. With these numbers, he’s improved his stock and teams will certainly be on the hunt for the Eagles’ defensive tackle.
- Charvarius Ward- While Ward’s production was down compared to his 2023 season, he had another decent year in 2024. He plays as a corner for the San Francisco 49ers and has been with them for the last three seasons. The 49ers struggled in the 2024 season but Ward still held up his end of the bargain. Ward’s stock should let him commend multi-year deals at the minimum. If the 49ers let him walk, their are teams such as the Commanders, who definitely need some defensive leadership and Ward would be the perfect fit.
- D.J. Reed- Arguably the best corner that will be available in the free agency, Reed has played for the New York Jets for the past three seasons. He has just entered the prime stages of his career being only 28 years old. If we look at his stats, coverage skills, and his age, Reed should easily be one of the top targets for various teams.
- Alaric Jackson- The 26 years old, plays for the L.A Rams and was ranked as the 18th best offensive tackle in the league according to PFF. Jackson played in 14 games last season and played 100 percent of his snaps. While he’s not a household name, it is tough to find an OT who can protect his quarterback well. Teams like the Bengals or the Patriots, could all use somebody like Jackson especially since these teams’ O-Lines could barely move the needle in 2024.
- Josh Sweat: Even though the entire Eagles’ defensive unit was on point against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, let’s not forget about Sweat and what he did. He posted 2.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, and was nearly the MVP of the Super Bowl since so many voted for him. His numbers may not stand out but Sweat has been disruptive throughout his career. If the Eagles don’t resign him, the 27 year old could easily be picked by other teams such as the Patriots or the Cardinals.
- Jevon Holland: Holland has been consistent with his production throughout his career. While the stats may not stand out, he is still as reliable as they come. The only problem with the Dolphins’ safety is that he’s battled a lot of injuries in the last two seasons which may hinder his stock going into the free agency. If the Dolphins fail to resign the 24 year old, his services could be used by many teams such as the Las Vegas Raiders, who we are betting to be aggressive in this offseason.
