Newcastle drop fresh Alexander Isak transfer hint amid Chelsea and Arsenal links

Newcastle United have dropped another hint that they are determined to keep Alexander Isak amid Arsenal and Chelsea links.

The Gunners and Blues have been heavily linked with a move for the Sweden international in recent months, with the speculation intensifying in the last few days.

Newcastle signed Isak two years ago from Real Sociedad in a deal reportedly worth more than £60 million, and the striker has been linked with a move away from St James’ Park thanks to his form.

Now a fresh report has provided an update on Newcastle’s transfer plans this summer. According to Sky Sports, Newcastle are in talks to sell Miguel Almiron in the coming days.

It has been claimed that the Magpies are in talks with an unnamed Saudi Pro League club to sign Almiron. No fee has been mentioned in the report, although talks are now officially underway for Almiron to leave St James’ Park.

Newcastle have been under pressure in recent weeks to raise funds to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules. The past few days have seen Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh sold for a combined fee reportedly worth £65 million.

The sale of Almiron would go further towards helping Newcastle comply with PSR, and could also hint that Isak is increasingly likely to stay with the club. It remains to be seen whether or not the St James’ Park club will need to sell more players to meet the financial requirements.

Arsenal have been linked with signing a new striker for several months, stretching back to last summer. Kai Havertz was signed from Chelsea, but Mikel Arteta often utilised the German in a midfield role.

As well as Havertz, Arsenal also have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as their current striker options. Isak is one of several No.9s to be linked with the Gunners, joining Victor Gyokeres, Joshua Zirkzee, Artem Dovbyk, Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, among others.

Chelsea, meanwhile, could look to move for an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson, who was surprisingly mentioned as a potential candidate for part of a swap deal for Isak.
