“My time has come to an end” – Arsenal midfielder to leave club after internal meeting

The Belgian international has reaffirmed his desire to leave Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal midfielder Sambi Lokonga has confirmed he will leave the club this summer.

LondonWorld revealed last week that Lokonga was set to be one of the first departures from Emirates Stadium after an internal meeting between his representatives and the Gunners hierarchy.

Lokonga spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace where he struggled, but this season enjoyed an excellent campaign at Luton where his performances drew plaudits from many including Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Several European clubs have already expressed interest in signing Lokonga, who will spend time on holiday before making a decision on his next team.

“I think that [my time at Arsenal] is slowly coming to the end,” Lokonga told VOO Sport. “I had a discussion with the club and what was said is that the best solution for me was to leave. “I have a one year contract plus a one year option, so now it’s up to the club and my agent to find the best solution.”

A number of players are expected to head towards the Emirates exit door this summer, with Kieran Tierney, Aaron Ramsdale, Mohamed Elneny (out of contract) and Cedric Soares (out of contract) set to leave.
