Marseille talks ongoing to sign Arsenal striker

Marseille want to sign Eddie Nketiah and talks are ongoing despite the club’s widely-reported interest in other attacking targets.

The Daily Mail report that Marseille have their sights set on Eddie Nketiah this summer, and they want to add him to their forward line for next season.

Marseille have been linked with a few different attacking options in recent weeks, including agreeing a deal for Mason Greenwood. The Mail suggest the Ligue 1 club want both players, not one or the other.

Marseille have also been linked with Wolves’ Hee-chan Hwang, with the Premier League club rejecting an initial offer.

But again, Santi Aouna reports that despite Marseille’s interest in Hwang, discussions are still ongoing with Nketiah.

Part of the reason Marseille might be so keen to make multiple attacking signings is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s impending departure from the club.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday morning that Saudi side Al-Qadsiah were pushing to sign Aubameyang.

Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi reportedly tried in vain to keep the 35-year-old around, but Foot Mercato wrote later on Monday that the former Gunner has made his decision.

With the striker likely netting Marseille a decent transfer fee and significantly lightening their wage bill, they’re evidently keen to attack the market for potential replacements.
