Man United ‘want next Martin Odegaard’ as Ruben Amorim ‘gives green light’ to move for teenage sensation

Incoming Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly desperate for the Red Devils to win the race for Rosenborg teenager Sverre Nypan during next summer’s transfer window.

The 17-year-old has been in impressive form for Rosenborg during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring seven goals and registering six assists in 27 appearances in all competitions.

Nypan has featured on 57 occasions for his current side in total, scoring 12 goals and registering 10 assists, and he is regarded as one of the best young talents in European football.

A number of major clubs are believed to be keen on the Norway Under-21s international, but it was recently claimed that Man United had a strong interest in the attacker.

Man United ‘keen on deal for teenage star Nypan’

The report claims that the 20-time English champions have been ‘seriously scouting’ Nypan, with the club determined to add the best young talent to their squad after years of over-spending on established players.

Amorim is allegedly confident that Nypan would be able to fit into his 3-4-3 system, with the youngster potentially operating as one of the narrow wide players behind a centre-forward.

Nypan has been compared to Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, who has developed into one of the best players in the Premier League during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

“Sverre Nypan is extremely exciting, and I get a bit of the same feeling as when I saw Martin Odegaard break through as a boy,” Norwegian football expert Jesper Mathisen told TV2 last year.

According to GIVEMESPORT, incoming Red Devils head coach Amorim is a huge fan of Nypan, and he will push for the club to secure his signature during next summer’s transfer window.

Nypan previously revealed that he supports Man United

Nypan revealed in 2023 that he was a Man United fan, potentially giving the Red Devils an advantage in the race for him.

“I’ve always been a Manchester United fan,” Nypan told TV2 in 2023. “Then of course there is Real Madrid. I’m a big [Cristiano] Ronaldo fan. It’s very unrealistic, but it’s the dream.”

The youngster is also represented by Rafaela Pimenta, who oversaw moves for Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich to Man United during the recent transfer window.

However, Manchester CityChelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs also thought to be showing an interest in the attacker, who has a contract with Rosenborg until December 2026, with the deal including a release clause of €100m (£83m).

Man United are expected to be active during the January transfer window, with the Red Devils believed to be looking to bring in a new striker and central midfielder at the start of 2025.
