Liverpool joined by Arsenal in £10m transfer race amid Arne Slot boost for stunning reunion

Liverpool have been handed huge updates on two summer transfer targets to have previously played under Arne Slot.

Following the departure of Jurgen Klopp, Slot faces an exciting first few months at Anfield with a number of transfer decisions on the agenda. Though he officially starts at the beginning of June, it is very likely he is already thinking about how he wants the squad to look three months later at the start of the 2024/25 season.

With that in mind, several Liverpool transfer targets have been named and it is hardly unsurprising some of those are players Slot trusts. Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow is one of those with reports in the Netherlands revealing him as an option if Liverpool were to lose both Alisson, amid very real interest from Saudi Arabia, and Caoimhin Kelleher.

However they look set to face competitions from Arsenal with Mikel Arteta identifying the 26-year-old as a possible Aaron Ramsdale replacement, as per the Telegraph. It would be completely fair to suggest that some Feyenoord stars may struggle to impress at Liverpool given how others from the Eredivisie have faired.

“I’m only happy to enjoy this title with the fans, I’m focused on celebrating,” he told Sky Italia, via Football Italia. “Next season? I don’t know. We will see.” Atalanta saw off Liverpool in style earlier on in the competition and it is now entirely possible he joins Slot in Merseyside, especially given a previous admission.

Back in March, he told De Telegraaf: “I have indicated to Atalanta that I want to make a move next summer. But there must be something very nice to exchange that for Atalanta.

“My girlfriend and I are having a great time in Italy, but I can put up with the rain for some clubs in England! I hope there will be great options that I can think about. And then I hope that Atalanta receives a nice amount for me, because I had a wonderful time there.”
