Scott Brown insists it would be unbelievable to see Kieran Tierney make a sensational return to Celtic.
But the legendary Hoops captain would like see his close pal move home as a Premier League title-winner. Brown mentored KT at Parkhead as the left-back broke into the first-team in 2015. The pair spent five trophy-laden seasons together before Tierney joined Arsenal in a record-breaking £25million move in 2019.
Yet after instantly becoming a fans’ favourite at the Emirates, Tierney has been plagued by injuries in the last few years, costing him a place in Mikel Arteta’s plans. The 27-year-old admitted during the summer that he expected the leave the Gunners but a hamstring tear sustained during the Euros scuppered any exit plans.
Football Scotland told yesterday how Tierney stepped up his injury comeback by returning to first-team training with Arsenal. And while it’s unlikely the Scotland defender will get much game time, Broony reckons the Celtic diehard still has time on his side to prove himself in England.
Brown told the Hotline Live: “He is at Arsenal now and he obviously wants to go back and play games. It’s up to him what he does and where he goes. If he was ever to come back it would be unbelievable. But he’s got to focus on Arsenal and get back into that team.
“They’re a fantastic team as well. He could go and win the Premier League with them. When he first got into the team, they loved him. He’s still only 27. I’d like to see him do something like win the Premier League.”
