Jamie Carragher picks who is the best player out of Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Man City’s Phil Foden

The new Premier League season is upon us and Jamie Carragher has already been answering some tricky questions.

Carragher is once again part of the Sky Sports team bringing the action this season and as always, there’s plenty to discuss.

The usual questions like you will win the league, who will finish top four and who will go down have been covered heavily in the last few days.

However, when it comes to the best players in the league, it’s a wider debate.

And Carragher, speaking on The Overlap, was tasked with picking who he thinks is the best player out of English trio Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, and Phil Foden.

Jamie Carragher gives verdict on Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden

Speaking about the impact of the three England stars, Carragher admitted that while he loves Foden, when it comes to international football, he’s still lagging behind.

“I think if you think of those three players and asked me who is the best player, I would say Foden. But I would say Saka for England has done a lot more than Foden and I actually think in those snippets over the summer Cole Palmer has almost done as much if not more than Foden in an England shirt, even though he’s hardly played,” Carragher said.

“I am still waiting to see the Man City Foden. The Man City Phil Foden for me is one of if not the best player in the Premier League, certainly in the top two or three.

“The Phil Foden for England I think he is fighting to be in the team”

A huge season for Cole Palmer

All three of these players are superb footballers who have the world at their feet.

However, there is a big difference when it comes to Palmer in that he needs to do it over a consistent period of time.

Phil Foden has won everything there is to win, and Bukayo Saka has been the key driver behind Arsenal challenging City.

For Palmer, as good as he was last season, he’s now got to kick on and prove he can do the business over a number of seasons.

If he does do well this year, then Palmer might well be the top dog if the question is asked again next summer.
