Arsenal will be very busy in the upcoming summer transfer window, and a number of players have been linked with a move to the Emirates already.
Mikel Arteta has built a terrific squad at Arsenal. The Gunners have several top-class players capable of making a difference against any team in the world, but there’s always room for improvement.
A new striker will be the priority for the North Londoners, but they could need some serious help in midfield as well, especially if Thomas Partey and Jorginho end up leaving. The Ghana international will enter the final year of his contract this summer, while the former Chelsea man will be a free agent in a little over three months.
A new midfielder will definitely be on Arteta and Edu’s mind, and Arsenal have been linked with quite a few big names in recent weeks.
Arsenal linked with move to sign Champions League winner
Mikel Arteta has transformed Arsenal into one of the best teams in Europe right now.
The Gunners are a completely different side compared to where they were two or three years ago, and that has made them a very attractive team for world-class players.
Among all the big names linked with a move to join Arsenal is Bayern Munich’s Champions League-winning midfielder Joshua Kimmich.
The German will enter the final year of his contract this summer, and there is a chance he will leave the Allianz Arena for a club in the Premier League.
It has been claimed that Arsenal are among five top clubs Kimmich would be willing to join before the start of next season.
Kimmich will reportedly be available for as little as £25 million because of his contract situation (Daily Star). That makes him a bargain option to many clubs this summer.
Pep Guardiola’s comments on Joshua Kimmich should excite Arsenal fans
Pep Guardiola knows Joshua Kimmich very well. The Spaniard worked with the midfielder when he was the manager of Bayern Munich all those years ago.
One of the moments that went viral was when Guardiola appeared to have a huge go at Kimmich on the pitch after a game against Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
The Manchester City boss was asked about the incident in his press conference at the time, and he had nothing but praise for the versatile German.
“I told him that he’s perhaps one of the best centre-backs in the world. I love this boy,” said Guardiola, as per Bayern Munich’s official website.
“Joshua Kimmich turned in a great display. We have a very good defender who’s strong in the build-up play. I like to work with players who are eager to learn. He’s got the desire, the will, the passion. He’s got absolutely everything.”
If Mikel Arteta needed any convincing about signing Kimmich, his mentor Guardiola’s past comments should do the trick this summer
