Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal is a transfer rumour that has been doing the rounds for quite some time now.
The Brazilian midfielder is said to be someone the Gunners are very keen on, but, unfortunately, a deal doesn’t appear to be on the cards.
Arsenal were apparently looking into a swap deal to sign Guimaraes earlier this month, but, as of yet, nothing has come of that.
Speaking on KS1 TV, Steve Kay has been discussing Arsenal and their interest in the Newcastle star.
According to the journalist, Arsenal are keen on Guimaraes, but they believe his £100m pricetag is way too hefty.
However, Kay says that he’s sure that Arsenal would go in for Guimaraes if his pricetag were to drop, claiming that the Gunners would be keen at around the £60m mark.
How much Arsenal would pay for Bruno Guimaraes
Kay shared what he knows about Arsenal and the Newcastle star.
“He’s a really good player, is he a £100m midfielder? I don’t think so, and that turned off Arsenal and Man City. If he became available, similarly to Gyokeres, at about £50-60m, I’m sure he’d be someone we’d be looking at, but at the price they want, I think they more or less immediately said no,” Kay said.
Bruno Guimaraes is worth a fortune
Arsenal would go in for Guimaraes at £60m, but, unfortunately for the Gunners, that’s not going to be possible.
Newcastle will not be selling their star player for a bargain fee this summer.
After passing the PSR deadline, Newcastle are no longer in a position where they need to sell, and given how important Guimaraes is to the Magpies, it’s fair to say he won’t be going anywhere unless that £100m mark is met.
Guimaraes will be a Newcastle player for the foreseeable future.
What this means for Caoimhin Kelleher remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Irishman was on the move in the near future as his long-term prospects at Anfield now look bleak.
