Football fan banks over £100,000 after backing defeats for Liverpool, Arsenal and Rangers

One football punter didn’t need the Grand National to strike it lucky after bagging almost £110,000 from a sensational five-fold acca.

The betting guru somehow correctly predicted Crystal Palace to beat Liverpool, Arsenal to lose to Aston Villa and Fulham to get three points against West Ham. The mystery man or woman completed their speculative bet by backing Ross County to beat Rangers and Sevilla to overcome Las Palmas in La Liga.

And what do you know? To the despair of Arsenal and Liverpool fans, who were left weeping into their tin foil Premier League trophies during Super Sunday, the bet came off at odds of 10,951/1.

It meant a colossal £109,512 payout from a £10 stake for the William Hill punter, who was left delighted by the myriad of upsets. Ross County kicked things off as they stunned Rangers 3-2 at Dingwall; the second-bottom club defying odds of 14/1 to claim three points.

Two proverbial bankers then followed as Fulham defeated West Ham 2-0 at the London Stadium and Sevilla saw off Las Palmas. Then it was on to the two main events as an Eberechi Eze goal helped Crystal Palace to a 1-0 against against Liverpool at odds of 12/1.

That meant it was down to Aston Villa and Arsenal to bring the acca home. Despite a dominant first half for Mikel Arteta’s side, Aston Villa came out with renewed fight in the second half and deservedly won 2-0 thanks to late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins
