Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal.
The Gunners were arguably the busiest club in the Premier League on transfer deadline in terms of both incomings and outgoings.
They sanctioned the sales of Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah to Southampton and Crystal Palace respectively, while Reiss Nelson joined Fulham on loan.
Arsenal signed Neto too on loan, but the biggest story of deadline day was Sterling’s move to the Emirates from Chelsea.
Financial details of Raheem Sterling’s move from Chelsea to Arsenal
The inevitable links between Arsenal and Sterling first emerged on Thursday, when it was claimed that the forward’s representatives had offered him to the Gunners.
Many fans expected this to happen because of Sterling’s relationship with Mikel Arteta – the two of them worked together during their time at Manchester City.
A deal on deadline day until the evening looked unlikely, but things started to gain pace in the final hours of the transfer window.
Arsenal pushed for a loan deal to land Sterling and after negotiations, Chelsea agreed to the terms put forward by Edu Gaspar and sanctioned the move.
Miguel Delaney has now revealed the financial details of the deal on X.
The journalist has claimed that Arsenal will not be paying a single penny as loan fees for Sterling. To add to that, the Gunners will be covering less than 50 per cent of his wages too.
Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the news about Arsenal paying less than half of Sterling’s wages on his deadline-day live-stream on Playback late on Friday night.
Edu Gaspar has played a blinder
Arsenal may have pulled off one of the best deals of the summer by signing Sterling.
Signing an experienced four-time Premier League winner who Arteta knows very well is a great deal in itself, but the fact that the Gunners aren’t paying a penny in loan fees and are only covering a fraction of his wages makes this even better.
Sterling was on £325,000-a-week at Chelsea. If Delaney and Romano are to be believed, Arsenal will pay him less than £162,500-a-week now, which is just incredible.
Edu has come under a bit of stick from Arsenal fans in this window, but he deserves a lot of praise for sealing the Sterling deal on these exceptional terms.
