Riccardo Calafiori looks like he could be Arsenal’s next signing.
The Italian has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Gunners, and now a fee just needs to be agreed between Arsenal and Bologna.
Calafiori has agreed a package with Arsenal that will see him earn €4m a year and Arsenal are said to be very pleased with that package.
Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on Playback, one of the reasons Arsenal think Calafiori will be such a good signing is because they’re able to bring him in on what is said to be a ‘normal’ salary.
Arsenal happy with Riccardo Calafiori’s salary demands
Romano shared how Arsenal feel about Calafiori and the package they have agreed with the player.
“Calafiori, what is the situation? I told you already last week. The agreement between Arsenal and Calafiori is done a five-year contract, €4m net per season salary. A normal salary for Arsenal and that’s one of the reasons they believe this will be a very good investment,” Romano said.
Calafiori’s salary is reasonable
€4m-a-year for a player of Calafiori’s quality is a very reasonable package for Arsenal.
Indeed, in an age where player wages are hugely inflated, to get someone like Calafiori through the door on a deal worth less than £100k-a-week is a decent bit of business.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, a fee with Bologna is yet to be agreed, and the transfer fee attached to this move may be a bit more extortionate.
Of course, you’re not going to get a player of Calafiori’s quality on the cheap, but at least his salary will be reasonable even if Arsenal do have to pay a hefty transfer fee to get the Serie A star to north London.
Arsenal believe this could be a great signing, and on this modest wage, the overall package to bring Calafiori in could end up being a bargain.
