Fabrizio Romano reveals the first move Arsenal will make on transfer deadline day

Arsenal are expected to be involved in quite a few deals on transfer deadline day.

The Gunners have done some great business already in this window, but they aren’t done yet. Eddie Nketiah’s move to Crystal Palace isn’t official, while Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton needs to be rubberstamped as well.

While all that is going on, Arsenal are keen to make new signings themselves, and they are in talks with a few names on their wish list.

Fabrizio Romano has now shared an update about one of them on Playback.

Fabrizio Romano shares Arsenal’s deadline day plan for Joan Garcia

Arsenal are on the market for a new goalkeeper on transfer deadline day.

Ramsdale has been given permission to leave the club, and if things go to plan, he will be announced as a new Southampton player by the end of deadline day.

Arsenal will have to sign a replacement for Ramsdale if his move goes through, and they have been linked with plenty of names already.

Joan Garcia is one of them.

The ‘brilliant‘ Spaniard is highly rated by many clubs in Europe, and his performances for Espanyol have been stunning recently.

Arsenal made a bid to sign Garcia on Thursday but that was rejected. The Gunners went back in with another offer later in the day, but that was turned down too.

Now, Romano, in his stream very late on Thursday night, has revealed that Arsenal will make another attempt to sign Garcia early in the morning of deadline day.

He said: “Arsenal, in the morning, will try again for Joan Garcia, from what I understand. They didn’t tell Espanyol or the agents of the player ‘OK, stop, we signed Neto, bye!” This hasn’t happened.

“But, early morning, or maybe overnight – in the next hours – that’s what I am told, Arsenal will try again for Joan Garcia.

“In case Espanyol will keep requesting for the release clause, Arsenal will be ready to close the Neto deal. That’s the point. Neto is ready.”

The latest on Arsenal and Bournemouth’s Neto

It is clear that Garcia is Arsenal’s first-choice target, but that doesn’t mean Arsenal don’t have alternate options on deadline day.

The Gunners have identified Bournemouth captain Neto as a target in case their deal to sign the Espanyol shot-stopper fails.

The good thing for Edu Gaspar is that this deal is easy to complete.

Romano revealed that Arsenal and Bournemouth have reached an agreement on a loan deal for Neto, without any option or obligation to buy clause. The Brazilian has agreed personal terms with the Gunners too.

Now, it all depends on what Espanyol are preparing to do.
