ESPN REPORT: Pete Carroll Announced The Signing Of Another Top Experienced Superstar 2021 1st Round Pick

Raiders Add Veteran Linebacker to Roster

The Las Vegas Raiders have officially signed linebacker Devin White as an unrestricted free agent, the team announced on Monday. White brings valuable experience to the Raiders’ defense after spending the 2024 season with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans. Last year, he appeared in seven games, making one start—all with Houston—while recording 19 tackles.

Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 237 pounds, White enters his eighth NFL season with an impressive resume. He was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and played six seasons with the team from 2019 to 2023.

Over his career, he has appeared in 83 games, starting 76 of them, and has amassed 585 total tackles, including 379 solo tackles. Additionally, he has recorded 23.0 sacks, 40 tackles for loss, 64 quarterback hits, three interceptions, six forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries, and 21 passes defensed.

White’s standout performance in 2020 helped solidify his reputation as one of the league’s top linebackers. That season, he posted career-best numbers with 140 tackles, ranking fifth in the NFL. He also recorded nine sacks, which was tied for fourth among linebackers, and 15 tackles for loss, placing him third in the league. His dominant play was instrumental in the Buccaneers’ run to a Super Bowl LV victory, further establishing his impact on the field.

His consistent production earned him recognition as a 2020 Associated Press All-Pro and a 2021 Pro Bowl selection. Since entering the league in 2019, White is one of only three players—alongside Jerome Baker and Demario Davis—to have recorded over 500 tackles and 20 sacks. Additionally, he is one of just six players since 1987 to reach that milestone within his first six seasons.

Before entering the NFL, White had an outstanding college career at LSU, where he played for three seasons from 2016 to 2018. He was a leader both on and off the field, serving as a two-time team captain and earning team MVP honors twice. His dominance at the linebacker position was recognized with consecutive All-SEC selections, and he was awarded the prestigious Butkus Award in 2018 as the nation’s top linebacker. That same year, he was named a consensus All-American. Over his 38-game collegiate career, which included 25 starts, White compiled 286 total tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and one interception.

Now joining the Raiders, White looks to bring his playmaking ability, leadership, and championship experience to a Las Vegas defense that continues to build for the future. His ability to rush the passer, make tackles in open space, and provide veteran leadership will be key assets for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. With a proven track record of success, White could play a crucial role in solidifying the Raiders’ linebacker corps in 2025.
