Arsenal have reportedly offered Jorginho a new contract to extend his stay in North London.
According to David Ornstein, the Italian international, who initially joined on an 18-month deal, is expected to agree to fresh terms after solidifying a key role in Mikel Arteta’s midfield.
Arsenal have moved to secure midfielder Jorginho‘s future by offering him a new contract, which the player is expected to sign. This development comes after the 32-year-old’s influential role since joining the Gunners from Chelsea on an 18-month deal in January 2023.
Jorginho’s initial contract included an option for an additional year, but Arsenal’s proactive offer signifies their desire to retain his services for the longer term. The experienced midfielder has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta‘s squad, featuring in 35 matches across all competitions this season.
Writing last week, Ornstein revealed that either Jorginho or Thomas Partey might leave Arsenal this summer to make space in the midfield. Now, it looks like Jorginho will stay raising questions about Partey’s future at the club.
“We’re in no hurry,” Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos said recently in an interview with the Italian media.
“If [Arsenal] were to call us in a month or two to discuss the renewal, that’s fine with us. Would Jorginho like to return to Italy? Yes, of course, because he grew up in Italy and he likes everything about your country.”
