Darren Bent says £190k-a-week Tottenham player is ‘the only one’ who’d get in the Arsenal team

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set lock horns in one of the biggest fixtures in the English calendar this Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs will host Mikel Arteta’s Gunners in a North London derby that has already so much riding on it.

Tottenham could’ve easily won all three of their Premier League games so far this season, but a lack of cutting edge and issues at the back means they’ve only picked up four points.

Meanwhile, Arsenal failed to win against Brighton before the international break, and they’ll also be missing a host of important midfielders.

With that in mind, both Spurs and Arsenal will be desperate to win in order to stabilise their seasons, along with the obvious bragging rights.

Such a key fixture invariably brings a lot of punditry along with it, and the likes of Darren Bent and Emmanuel Petit had their say.

Bent and Petit were asked on talkSPORT who they would include in his combined Arsenal and Tottenham XI, and only one Spurs player made the cut.

Son Heung-min ‘the only’ Tottenham player who’d get in Arsenal team

The player in question is Son Heung-min, who both Bent and Petit agreed would be able to get in the Gunners team.

Andy Goldstein stated that the Spurs skipper would get in his team over Arsenal’s left-winger Gabriel Martinelli.

“That’s the only one”, Bent replied, with Petit admitting: “Probably, yeah.”

Petit then insisted: “Even without Odegaard and Declan Rice, I stick with the Arsenal players.”

Goldstein highlighted that James Maddison would feature in the middle of the pitch in lieu of the missing Odegaard and Rice.

Petit replied: “Maybe. So maybe two players maximum, even when Odegaard and Declan Rice aren’t there. You have your answer [who will win north London derby].”

How many goals has Son scored against Arsenal?

Son boasts a pretty good record against Arsenal, so it goes without saying that Spurs will hope he’s firing on all cylinders on Sunday.

Over the years, the £190,000-a-week Tottenham forward (Spotrac) has scored eight goals and registered two assists in 20 games against the Gunners.

Son has been on the winning side six times in the North London derby, but Arsenal have got the better of Tottenham eight times when he’s played. There have also been six draws.

Son had to wait a while to get his debut North London derby goal. This came at the ninth attempt, in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Arsenal in the League Cup in December 2018.
