FRISCO, Texas (KETK) – On Monday morning, the Cowboys held a press conference to introduce their new head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, who will be the tenth head coach in franchise history.
The press conference took place at 11a.m. at the Cowboys practice facility, the Star, located in Frisco. During the press conference, Schottenheimer made the bold claim that the Cowboys will win the championship during his tenure.
“We’re going to win and we’re going to win the championship,” Schottenheimer said.
Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott also spoke highly of the organization’s decision to choose Scottenheimer as the new head coach.
“We got the right guy and working closely with him we’re going to win,” Prescott said.
Schottenheimer has spent the past two seasons as the Cowboys offensive coordinator under Mike McCarthy. He has been coaching in the NFL and at the college level since 1997. This will be his first head coaching position at either level.
Schottenheimer is the ninth head coach that Jerry Jones has hired since he bought the team in 1989. No coach has been able to take the Cowboys past the divisional round since Barry Switzer lead the team to the Super Bowl in 1996.
