The Arsenal squad have reacted to their important victory over Brighton as the Gunners took an important step in the title race. Mikel Arteta’s side moved back to the top of the table and kept the pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City.
An away trip to Brighton could have been a difficult assignment ahead of the club beginning their Champions League tie with Bayern Munich on Tuesday. However, Arsenal took a first half lead as Bukayo Saka scored from the spot.
Kai Havertz doubled the Gunners’ lead before Leandro Trossard scored against his former club to ensure a comfortable victory for Arteta’s side. Their return to first place could be brief as Liverpool take on Manchester United on Sunday but the Arsenal squad have taken to social media to celebrate the win and appear to be embracing the pressure of the title race.
Bukayo Saka had been an injury doubt for the game at the Amex but stepped up to give Arsenal the lead, summing the game up in three words on Instagram: “Back on top!” Fellow goalscorer Kai Havertz continued his fine run of form on Saturday and showed his appreciation to the Gunners’ travelling support, writing: “Perfect end to the week! Fans as always were top.”
Leandro Trossard had the most apt message for Arsenal fans. Signed from Brighton midway through last season, the Belgian posted a picture of his goal celebration with the caption, “Are you not entertained?”
Defender Gabriel Magalhaes celebrated the “Massive WIN in a really difficult stadium”. In the comments section, Declan Rice simply wrote “Mentality”, while Arsenal’s sporting director Edu Gaspar reacted to Gabriel’s post with a ‘top’ emoji.
Jorginho also thanked Arsenal’s away support after the win and Gabriel Magalhaes commented on his post, “What a player my brother.” Meanwhile, Oleksandr Zinchenko demonstrated his mentality: “Away fans as usual [fire emoji]. Now focus on the massive one on Tuesday.”
