Latest Arsenal injury news with Mikel Arteta on hand to provide a positive Bukayo Saka update following the 1-0 Premier League win over Manchester United
Mikel Arteta will be hoping to once again have his full squad available for the final game of the 2023/24 season against Everton. On Sunday, the Gunners beat Manchester United at Old Trafford to take the Premier League title race against Manchester City down to the final day.
Before Arsenal and Man City end their campaigns against Everton and West Ham, respectively, the reigning champions face Tottenham on Tuesday where anything but a win will place title control in Arsenal’s hands. Pep Guardiola lost Nathan Ake to injury over the weekend, but minus that he is expected to have his entire squad available.
As for Arsenal’s injury issues, Jurrien Timber was the extra man that travelled to Manchester and therefore he was still not named in the matchday squad. As for fresh concerns, Bukayo Saka went down in some pain during the final few minutes with Arteta providing an update on his condition after the game.
Bukayo Saka
Saka left the action at Old Trafford in the final few minutes after a strong challenge from Sofyan Amrabat saw him tumble down the side of the pitch and into the advertising hoardings.
Injury: Unknown.
What Arteta has said: “I think he’s going to be fine.”
Potential return date: Everton (H) – Sunday, May 19.
Jurrien Timber
Timber suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury on the opening weekend of the Premier League season against Nottingham Forest, missing a large chunk of the season. The 22-year-old defender has recently returned to action, regularly featuring for under-21s.
He helped the young Gunners secure a 2-0 win over Liverpool at the end of last month as he steps up his rehabilitation. After nearly nine months on the sidelines, Timber could finally make his first-team return against United – though a start would be unlikely.
Injury: Knee.
What Arteta has said: “He’s played only 115 minutes of football with the Under-21s, it’s a question that can only be resolved by throwing him on the pitch and we will see what happens, we have to try to nail that decision when [we take it].”
Potential return date: Everton (H) – Sunday, May
