FIA Issues Double Disqualification for Lewis Hamilton After Te…read more.

In a dramatic turn of events at the Monaco Grand Prix, the FIA has issued a rare double disqualification to seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, following post-race inspections that revealed two separate technical infringements on his Ferrari car.

Hamilton, who had initially finished third on track, was under investigation after scrutineers noted discrepancies in the car’s floor plank wear and rear wing flexibility. After a thorough review, the FIA confirmed both violations, citing breaches of Articles 3.5.9 and 3.10.3 of the FIA Formula 1 Technical Regulations.

The double disqualification means Hamilton loses not only his podium position but also all points from the event. Ferrari, already under pressure after a tough start to the season, now faces further scrutiny from the governing body.

“This is a devastating outcome for the team and for Lewis,” Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur said in a brief statement. “We respect the FIA’s process, but we are currently reviewing our right to appeal.”

The double penalty marks the first time in over a decade that a Formula 1 driver has been disqualified for two separate technical reasons in the same race. The FIA emphasized that while the infractions did not appear to provide a significant performance advantage, rules must be upheld to ensure fairness across the grid.

With this result, Hamilton drops crucial championship points, widening the gap to title leader Max Verstappen. As the season heats up, all eyes will be on how Ferrari responds in the next round in Montreal.

Further updates are expected following Ferrari’s decision on whether to appeal.
