The Arizona Cardinals are still searching for ways to bolster their defense, even after selecting two promising young players in April’s NFL Draft. Will Johnson and Walter Nolen have bright futures, but the team is looking for someone who can make an immediate impact—particularly at the cornerback position, with Sean Murphy-Bunting sidelined for the upcoming season.
“A source told ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss that the Cardinals knew about Murphy-Bunting’s injury before last month’s NFL draft, where the team selected two cornerbacks, including Will Johnson in the second round, and a safety. Max Melton, a 2024 second-rounder, is also in the mix at outside cornerback,” ESPN wrote.
The Cardinals may have landed one of the draft’s biggest steals in Johnson, who is now expected to take on a significant role due to the injury. However, adding a veteran presence to the cornerback room could be invaluable. As a result, Arizona might explore a trade for Packers veteran Jaire Alexander.
