BENJAMIN SESKO EMERGES AS A PRIORITY TARGET FOR ARSENAL

Arsenal have set their sights on highly rated RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, according to the Mirror.

The Gunners are in the market for a striker, and several high-profile players have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

They include Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, but the Gunners are now reportedly prioritising a move for Sesko.

The Slovenia international was in fine form for Leipzig, ending the 2023/24 season with 18 goals and two assists in 42 games across all competitions.

His 14-goal haul in the Bundesliga is also very impressive, considering he wasn’t a regular starter for Marco Rose’s side until the second half of the season.

European scouts have been monitoring Sesko’s development since he was tearing up the Austrian top flight with RB Salzburg.

Leipzig beat the competition to secure his signature from their sister club, but the 20-year-old could be on the move again just 12 months after joining the German side.

Sesko is considered one of the best strikers of his generation, and Arsenal are eager to sign him this summer.

Over the past two seasons, questions have been raised over Arsenal’s need for a prolific centre-forward, given that their wide players consistently deliver the goods.

However, after missing out on the Premier League title for a second consecutive season, they are ready to splash the cash on a new striker.

Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah were below par in 2023/24, although the former struggled with injury problems.

Mikel Arteta relied on Kai Havertz in the centre-forward role, and he repaid the manager’s faith by tallying 13 goals and seven assists – his best-ever Premier League haul.

Sesko would be an impressive signing for Arsenal, although they’ll have to activate his £55 million release clause to force Leipzig’s hand.

They may also face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, who have expressed interest in the striker.
