Arsenal star Bukayo Saka had his way with West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Arsenal were far too good for West Ham, and Bukayo Saka bagged two assists and a goal
It was a really tough night for Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui, his players and of course, the fans.
What made it even worse for me was the fact that Lopetegui suggested that we were unfortunate to lose by such a heavy margin after the game.
It was a horrendous performance all-round from West Ham, aside from a decent five-minute spell just before half-time.
Big improvements are needed if we are to have any chance of beating Leicester City on Tuesday night.
I’m just concerned that our players’ morale is at rock bottom right now.
And something that Saka has just said won’t lift the mood in East London at all.
What Bukayo Saka just said will make West Ham fans feel sick
The West Ham players will be licking their wounds after the defeat against the Gunners.
What makes the performance so much worse is that the brilliant victory over Newcastle on Monday now just seems like it was nothing more than a false dawn.
Saka spoke to reporters after the match, and made a really damning suggestion, as quoted by Arsenal’s official website.
The Arsenal forward said, “It was a lot of fun!“
That’s the last thing I want to hear an opponent say immediately after any match, let alone a London derby.
We should be making these matches difficult for the opposition, not a walk in the park.
Far too often this season, teams coming to the London Stadium have had an easy time of it.
Julen Lopetegui has to find a way to make our home ground a fortress – a place that nobody wants to visit.
Bukayo Saka summed it up perfectly with his comments after the game.
It was far too easy for Arsenal, and we need to see a big response from the West Ham players going forward.
