Arsenal set for active summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta identifies key targets

Arteta and Arsenal’s recruitment team have already earmarked their targets for the summer transfer window.

Arsenal will be active in the summer transfer window as manager Mikel Arteta looks to build on the club’s impressive Premier League campaign, LondonWorld understands.

The Gunners are in the market for at least three new players, with a forward being seen as ‘priority’ alongside a new midfielder and defender.

All targets have been approved by Arteta and his recruitment team have mostly looked at players under the age of 26, with younger profiles seen as a ‘better fit’ under the transfer model spearheaded by sporting director Edu Gaspar.

Benjamin Sesko is wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, with RB Leipzig prepared to offer him a new, improved contract in the coming weeks.

Sesko has not yet decided on his future but it appears likely that a move away from Leipzig will happen this summer if the right offer is received.

In midfield, Arteta admirers Bruno Guimaraes and Martin Zubimendi, while Ajax youngster Jarred Heto is at the top of the defensive shortlist for Arsenal.

“That’s the ideal scenario,” said Arteta when asked whether he wants to get his business done early.
“Every club wants that, we want that as coaches and for the players especially. Then for the team and for the environment. When you do that something clicks there and it’s really important because it starts to give you momentum.

“But there are Euros this season and Copa America, so it might be a different summer.”

Arteta’s side will head to America for their pre-season tour again this summer, with games against Manchester United and Liverpool both pencilled in for July 28th and 31st.
