Arsenal register interest in signing Donyell Malen

Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Borussia Dortmund star Donyell Malen this summer, as per the German outlet Bild.

The Dutchman was previously linked with a move away from Signal Iduna Park back in January but a move never materialised so he remained at BVB.

After deciding to stay at Borussia Dortmund, the forward enjoyed a promising campaign in the second half of last season and as a result, he was selected to play for his country in the European Championship.

He wasn’t a regular starter for the Netherlands but played a few games and helped his country reach the semi-final before losing to England. So, it seems after being impressed by his recent displays, the Gunners have expressed their interest in signing him.

According to the report by Bild(via PressReader), Arsenal are considering signing Malen this summer and could make a formal approach over the coming weeks.

The report further claims that the 25-year-old would be open to leaving Dortmund to take a new challenge in his career and therefore, he could accept a move back to the Emirates Stadium – where he spent a few years during his youth before joining PSV Eindhoven.

The German outlet says that Nuri Sahin’s side want a fee of around £34m to sell their star man so Arsenal can manage to secure his signature for an affordable price.

Arsenal are seemingly looking to reinforce their flanks by signing a new winger this summer. A few names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks with Nico Williams being mentioned as the primary option but Malen is on their radar as well.

The former PSV Eindhoven star can play in the left-wing role as well as the right-wing position. He has showcased glimpses of his qualities in the German top-flight in recent times, therefore, he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to purchase him should he leave Dortmund in this transfer window.
