Arsenal are prepared to offer €115,000 per week to convince Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee to join them during the summer transfer window.
The Dutchman has been a key player for the Serie A outfit this season. He has registered 11 goals and provided six assists from 31 appearances
His progress has caught the eye of the Gunners and Gianluca Di Marzio claims that they are prepared to offer an annual salary of €6 million which equates to €115,000 per week.
The Gunners are not alone in the pursuit of the 22-year-old. Juventus and AC Milan are among Serie A clubs, who are keen on securing his signature during the summer.
Bologna are currently eyeing €70-80m for their striker, but Bayern Munich still have an advantage. They have the option to re-sign him for €40m at the end of the campaign.
Arsenal are expected to invest on a marquee striker this summer. They have been linked with Zirkzee on many occasions, but we are not fully convinced over his potential.
Italian outlets have compared his rise with Rasmus Hojlund, who made a big-money switch to Manchester United from Atalanta during last summer’s transfer window.
However, we believe Hojlund is a better striker and has a higher ceiling than the former Bayern ace.
In our opinion, Mikel Arteta’s side should avoid a move for Zirkzee. We would personally prefer the club to land Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon this summer.
The 25-year-old has netted a staggering 35 goals alongside 16 assists from 41 games in his debut season. He averages a goal in every 94 minutes for the Lisbon outfit.
The former Coventry City striker will face a stiffer challenge in the Premier League, but would be a much better acquisition over Zirkzee, who has yet to find consistency.
