Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to apply the finishing touches to his squad.
The Gunners have gone from strength to strength under Arteta since 2019, going from an upper mid-table outfit to a Premier League title challenger.
Arsenal’s management and board will not want to rest on their laurels and will likely bolster their ranks in the summer to take them to the next level.
The Gunners front-line could certainly do with strengthening, and one report has emerged suggesting they’ve firmly set their sights on one particular player.
The player in question is Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, who has been going from strength to strength in Serie A this season.
According to Tuttosport, the 22-year-old is top of Arsenal’s attacking wish list, and they’re now ready to offer him a deal worth around £115,000-a-week.
As per Salarysport, Zirkzee is currently on £19,000-a-week at Bologna. He would be getting a pay rise of £96,000-a-week were he to join the Gunners.
However, Arsenal aren’t alone in their pursuit of the Dutchman. They’re up against the likes of Manchester United, Aston Villa and Inter Milan, according to the report.
Arsenal pushing to bring Joshua Zirkzee to the Emirates Stadium
Arsenal seem to be moving decisively in pursuit of Zirkzee, who has 12 goals and seven assists for Bologna this term.
The 22-year-old is a quality player with a very high ceiling, so it’s not surprising that the likes of Arsenal are apparently pursuing him.
Arsenal’s front line is not bad by any means, but they do lack an out-and-out forward who has a knack for clinically converting chances.
With that in mind, Zirkzee – who has been likened to Dennis Bergkamp – seems like a great shout for the north Londoners.
Bologna are thought to be looking for around £50million to sell their asset, and Arsenal could well be willing to push the boat out.
