Arsenal are likely to be busy on the transfer front in the coming weeks as Edu and Mikel Arteta look to strengthen their ranks.
The Gunners have made one senior signing so far this summer, bringing Riccardo Calafiori to the Emirates from Italian side Bologna, and chances are they’re not done yet.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Real Sociedad and Spain midfielder Mikel Merino in recent weeks, with talks said to be at an advanced stage.
Now, a report has emerged claiming the Gunners have been told the valuation of a player they have submitted a bid for over the past few weeks
Arsenal quoted £30m for Ferdi Kadioglu
The player in question is Fenerbahce ace Ferdi Kadioglu, who played every minute of every match for Turkiye at Euro 2024.
Arsenal reportedly submitted a bid for the 24-year-old, something which Turkish outlet Nutuk has covered in their latest report.
They now claim that Fenerbahce have slapped a price tag of €35million (£30million) for Kadioglu.
Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund reportedly saw their bids for the player rejected, as they were in the region of €20million (£17million).
Prior reports have suggested that Kadioglu had actually agreed to sign for the Gunners this summer.
Although this wasn’t mentioned in Nutuk’s report, they did say Kadioglu wants to play in the big leagues of Europe and earn a high transfer fee for Fener.
As well as Arsenal, Premier League rivals Brighton have also been linked with the “rising star”.
Who is Arsenal target Ferdi Kadioglu?
Ferdi Kadioglu is a 24-year-old professional footballer who plies his trade for Fenerbahce and represents Turkiye at international level.
At present, he is mostly playing as a full-back for Fener, but his time at the club has also seen him play on the wings and even as a No. 10.
Kadioglu has been with Fener since 2018, when he joined from Dutch outfit NEC Nijmegen for a reported £1million fee.
He has made 202 competitive appearances with his club, winning a Turkish Cup in the process. He has also won 20 caps for Turkiye.
In terms of Kadioglu’s style of play, Breaking the Lines have likened Kadioglu to Joao Cancelo, while Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout compared him to Philippe Coutinho some years ago.
Several years ago, PFSA wrote a scouting report on the purported Arsenal target, then said to be on the radar of Derby County and at the time mostly playing as a winger.
They labelled Kadioglu an ‘extremely skilled operator with the ball at his feet’ with ‘Velcro like ball control, usually immaculate first touch and ingenuity to beat his man.’
‘Possessing a wicked turn of speed and able to change direction rapidly, this in combination with his sharp feints, shimmies, shoulder drops, shot fakes and nutmegs, ensure he’s a menace to handle 1v1,’ they added.
‘Due to the above, plus his low centre of gravity and decent strength, this means he wins many fouls in dangerous areas and can be hard to push off the ball.
‘Very comfortable on the ball and with opponents knowing his skill, he regularly draws multiple opponents that can crucially open up space upfield for teammates to explore.’
