Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in recruiting the services of Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy ahead of the summer transfer window, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The La Liga club are keen on signing Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies and are willing to sell Mendy as he is out of contract in 2025.
As a result, Arsenal are monitoring the situation but are not the only Premier League keen on the Frenchman, with Liverpool and Newcastle United also admirers of the 28-year-old.
Napoli are also keen, but a move to the English top-flight could appeal to the former Lyon star, and winning the Premier League could give the Gunners a chance.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been unable to call on summer signing Jurrien Timber due to his long-term injury, and while the versatile Netherlands international will be available towards the end of the campaign, the full-back is a department the North Londoners are looking to strengthen ahead of next season.
There is uncertainty surrounding the future of Ukraine international left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko at the club, and it appears Mendy has been identified as a potential replacement.
The France international brings the quality and much-needed experience to the table, and Arsenal could do with such a defender as they look to establish themselves as regular challengers for the title and Champions League.
Mendy can also play as a midfielder due to his superb abilities on the ball, with his passing and ball-retention qualities being some of the key features he possesses.
Landing such a player will be huge for the Gunners, but whether they can steal a march on their rivals in the race for his signature remains to be seen.
