Mikel Arteta’s former assistant Carlos Cuesta reportedly wants to bring midfielder Fabio Vieira with him to Parma.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta di Parma reports that the Serie A club have Vieira on their radar and could swoop for the Portuguese playmaker. He spent last season on loan at FC Porto but failed to earn a permanent move to the Liga Portugal giants.
There are suggestions that Arsenal and Cuesta have an agreement “not to do business” following his Emirates exit. The Spaniard has taken up his first senior managerial role at Ennio Tardini Stadium but seems keen to return for Vieira.
Arsenal’s Vieira Wanted By Cuesta
Parma may struggle to match Gunners’ asking price

Vieira’s chances of game time at Arsenal are slim given the ongoing recruitment at the North London club with versatile Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze in their sights. He could become their latest blockbuster arrival following Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.
The 25-year-old has two years left on his contract, but will be keen on first-team football, which Parma can offer him. The Italians are eyeing him as a replacement for Simon Sohm, with the Swiss midfielder linked with a move to Fiorentina.
What I Crociati likely can’t offer Vieira is a contract that matches his current €3m (£2.6m) per year deal, and they may also struggle to meet the Gunners’ €20m (£17m) valuation. That’s why there is so much curiosity surrounding Cuesta’s role in the pursuit, given his five years spent assisting Arteta.

Vieira joined the club from Porto in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £32m, and despite showing glimpses of promise, he failed to earn regular game time under Arteta. He is one of two players who spent last season out on loan and look set to depart this summer.
The Mirror repots that Fulham are keen to re-sign Reiss Nelson following his loan spell at Craven Cottage. The English winger’s campaign was halted by a hamstring problem but Marco Silva clearly feels he’s done enough to earn another season on loan. All statistics courtesy of SofaScore – correct as of 19.07.2025
