Arsenal and Wolves could essentially swap goalkeepers Aaron Ramsdale and Dan Bentley this summer.
Ramsdale is expected to leave Arsenal this summer after losing his spot as No.1 to David Raya, with the England international having made just one Premier League start since December. And Wolves have emerged as a potential destination for the 26-year-old.
According to talkSPORT, Wolves are exploring their options with current No.1 Jose Sa currently linked with a move away. The report states that Ramsdale and Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone are being eyed as potential replacements.
And Arsenal have made several offers to sign Bentley this summer, with the Gunners keen to bring in a homegrown goalkeeper to act as backup to Raya. As a result, Wolves could use Bentley as part of a player-plus-cash deal for Ramsdale.
“No footballer wants to not play,” Ramsdale told talkSPORT when asked about his future ahead of England’s Euro 2024 campaign. “I’ve had a tough year personally not playing and I never want to do that again.
“I’ve got the greatest honour, the greatest badge on my chest, if I play a minute or no minutes [and England win the Euros], it will be the pinnacle for me, the best day ever. For the time being I’m probably one of the happiest 26, 27 men in England and hopefully we can make not just us but however many millions at home the happiest as well.
“When you come to the national team, when you find your role, when you know your role. I would do absolutely anything if he said I was number three, number four, number one, I would do anything for the team, I’d be on the training pitch for four hours if I could.”
However, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has admitted Ramsdale could end up staying at the Emirates. “There is a big reality that Aaron will be here because he is our player and has a contract,” Arteta said in April.
Arsenal have only made two new signings this summer, bringing in Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and making Raya’s loan move permanent, while Wolves have completed permanent deals for Tommy Doyle, Rodrigo Gomes and Pedro Lima as well as the loan signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The new shirt has returned the Gunners to their roots placing a stripped-down, elegant-looking canon right over the heart of the new shirt. Shirt manufacturers Adidas have produced a “clean and minimal” and the design “embraces modernity, while honouring Arsenal’s rich heritage.
