Arsenal could reignite fierce Chelsea rivalry as Gunners ‘express interest’ in key striker target

Chelsea and Arsenal could be set for a long transfer battle for one of Europe’s top targets.

The transfer saga surrounding Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has taken another twist, with reports from Italy suggesting that Arsenal has made an inquiry about the Nigerian forward. The Gunners have asked to be kept informed about his situation as the transfer window enters its final stages.

Chelsea, who have long been admirers of Osimhen, are reportedly hesitant to meet Napoli’s £100million valuation or the striker’s substantial weekly wages, which are rumoured to exceed €300,000 per week.

Despite this, the Blues remain hopeful that as the transfer window progresses, they might be able to secure the necessary finances and strike a deal for the striker, who netted 15 Serie A goals last season.Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, now at the helm of Napoli, is keen to bring in Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku. However, this would likely be contingent on Napoli finding a buyer for Osimhen.

According to NapoliMagazine.com, Osimhen has already agreed to personal terms with PSG, but the French club is struggling to reach an agreement with Napoli, with the two sides far apart on the player’s valuation.

The same publication reported this morning that Arsenal has expressed interest in being updated on any developments in Osimhen’s transfer status.

The rivalry between Chelsea and Arsenal adds another layer of intrigue to this transfer saga. Chelsea fans pride themselves on being the only London club to have won the Champions League, and they previously outmanoeuvred Arsenal in the race to sign Mykhailo Mudryk.
