Arsenal’s plans in the summer transfer window will be being put together as we speak.
Whether they win the title or not this season will be irrelevant as Mikel Arteta and Edu continue to work on evolving things at The Emirates.
A number of players could depart, with the likes of Mo Elneny and Emile Smith Rowe among those who could leave.
Meanwhile, incomings could also be on the agenda as Arteta looks to strengthen the pack.
And while everyone knows a new striker is likely to be on the agenda, other positions could also come into the mix. Including, it seems, a new left-back.
Arsenal to consider Champions League defender
The Gunners have been making do with the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior this season but left-back is a position they could perhaps strengthen.
And according to journalist Dean Jones, Arsenal could sign a player who put in an ‘extraordinary‘ performance against them in Europe very recently.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has suggested that Brazilian defender Wendell is someone who Arsenal could sign on the cheap.
“He would be pretty cheap and from conversations I have had around United and Arsenal the mindset and wisdom of new players is going to be key because both of those sides really want players that can help elevate their younger talent. Would you want him as a starter every single week? Maybe not, but his contract is up in 2025 and when you are looking for players in a squad he fits for me.”
Wendell to bring experience to Arsenal
Despite being 30, Wendell has only just made his debut for Brazil but played most of the games in the recent international break against both England and Spain.
Arsenal’s mantra in more recent windows has been to sign players who are younger and can develop.
However, the addition of Jorginho showed that the Gunners are willing to go the other way as well and Wendell might just tick similar boxes.
If he is to be Brazil’s starting left-back from now on, then that’s a big player Arsenal could have on their hands.
And we’ve all seen how Brazilians tend to do with Arsenal.
