Arsenal make the trip north to face Manchester United in a potentially decision match on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners had topped the Premier League table prior to Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, which saw the reigning champions leapfrog them into top spot.
Mikel Arteta will be desperate to see his side emerge victorious this season, having finished as runners-up to City last term.
In the meantime, Arsenal have been linked with a sensational move for one of their former players.
As per The Evening Standard, the North London club are considering a move for ex-goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
The Poland international currently plies his trade at Italian club Juventus, but he meets the homegrown quote for Arsenal as he joined the Gunners in 2006 and spent 11 years with the club.
Szczesny, 34, made more than 180 appearances during his time with Arsenal, before departing for Turin in 2017.
The report claims that the Gunners are now expressing an interest in re-signing the Polish ‘keeper, as they look for a ‘homegrown’ replacement for outbound Aaron Ramsdale.
The England international looks almost certain to depart The Emirates this summer having fallen out of favour following the arrival of David Raya on loan from Brentford last year.
Raya is set to make his switch permanent, and Ramsdale will likely therefore depart the club permanently.
Szczesny remains Juventus’ first choice ‘keeper, but the report suggests that the Italian giants are hoping to sell one of their current crop of goalkeepers this summer as they look to sign Monza’s Michele Di Gregorio.
The Pole’s current contract with the Serie A club is set to run until the end of next season.
