Arsenal could miss perfect £50m opportunity to sign striker with 30 goal contributions this season

Mikel Arteta could be handed his Arsenal transfer wish amid an ongoing search for a forward.

Arsenal could miss out on the perfect opportunity to solve their attacking issue during the January transfer window, with Mikel Arteta currently waiting patiently for the right opportunity. The Gunners are down a winger, and a pretty good one at that, with Bukayo Saka sidelined for at least two months with his hamstring issues.

It had already been made clear that Arsenal needed another striker and winger, with a more reliable goalscorer needed, while Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli could perhaps do with more competition, with neither managing to be consistent across the whole of this season.

When asked if Arsenal need a specialist goalscorer, Arteta replied this week: “Well in the front position in comparison to what other clubs have done and the spending that we have there, we are very far from it, for very different reasons. First of all because we already have very good players and because we have many necessities in the squad to achieve in that period.”
