Ally McCoist believes that an Arsenal player will claim the PFA Premier League Player Of The Year award come next year.
The Premier League season is set to kick off Friday night when Manchester United take on Fulham at Old Trafford with Erik ten Hag hoping to get off to a good start.
As for the Premier League title, Arsenal are set to battle things out at the top with Manchester City hoping to make it five league titles in a row which is unprecedented in the modern era.
The Gunners missed out on the Premier League title last season but they are hoping to win their first league crown since the 2003/04 campaign when the North London club went the entire league season unbeaten.
Ally McCoist tips Martin Odegaard to win the Player of the Year award
Since joining Arsenal on a permanent deal from Real Madrid, Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard has been one of the best players in the Premier League.
Last season for the Gunners, Odegaard scored eight goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League and in the campaign before that (2022/23), the Norwegian scored 15 times and provided a further seven assists.
There is no question that Odegaard is vital for the Gunners and Ally McCoist, speaking on talkSPORT (9:55am) believes that the attacking midfielder could be the Premier League Player Of The Year.
“I’m going to go for Odegaard,” McCoist said. “He’s a wonderful, wonderful football player, he’s so easy to watch, crisp. He is such an intelligent footballer so I’m going to go with him.”
Odegaard is in for a big season at Arsenal
After the previous two seasons, where the Norwegian has been vital, this upcoming campaign represents another important one for the former Real Madrid midfielder.
Mikel Merino labelled Odegaard as ‘very eye-catching’ with Arsenal wanting a deal done for the Real Sociedad midfielder by this weekend.
If the North London club completes the signing of Merino, they’d have a midfield three of Declan Rice, Merino and Odegaard which is certainly good enough to win the Premier League title next season.
With Odegaard firing on all cylinders, Arsenal have one of the best attacking midfielders in the league and it is vital they get the best out of the Norwegian in the upcoming season.
