Agents in London’ – Romano: Arsenal Working ‘Every Single Minute’ to Sign Star

Posted on July 18, 2025 by sportsmars60@gmail.com

Arsenal are reportedly working tirelessly to finalize the signing of Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that the player’s agents are currently in London to conclude the deal. According to Romano, the Gunners are operating “every single minute” to secure their top striker target for the summer, and negotiations are at an advanced stage. Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with Gyökeres, and talks with Sporting are now centered around the final fee structure and add-ons.

The proposed deal involves a base fee of approximately €63.5 million, with Sporting CP holding out for an additional €10 million in performance-related bonuses. These add-ons are currently the main point of contention, as Arsenal aim to avoid overcommitting on contingent payments while still convincing Sporting to release their star forward. The presence of Gyökeres’ representatives in London suggests that all parties are pushing for a swift resolution, with the Premier League season drawing near and Arsenal eager to reinforce their attacking options.

Mikel Arteta has reportedly made Gyökeres his priority target after the team’s inconsistent attacking output last season. Despite a strong overall campaign, Arsenal struggled to find a consistent presence up front, rotating between Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard. Gyökeres, who scored 43 goals across all competitions for Sporting last season, is seen as a physical, clinical forward who can lead the line effectively and elevate the team’s attacking play.

The urgency behind Arsenal’s approach is also shaped by competition from other top European clubs who have been monitoring Gyökeres’ situation. Romano emphasized that Arsenal’s strategy is to complete the transfer before any rival bids emerge. The club’s recruitment team, led by Edu Gaspar, is said to be working non-stop in London alongside the agents to hammer out the last details of the agreement.

Should the deal go through, Gyökeres would become one of Arsenal’s most expensive signings and a key part of their bid to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title. His arrival would follow a series of notable moves this window, including the additions of Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Nørgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Arteta is clearly building a deeper, more versatile squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.

Gyökeres’ style of play aligns well with Arsenal’s attacking philosophy. A powerful runner, strong in link-up play and excellent in the box, he offers qualities Arsenal lacked last season—particularly in breaking down low blocks and converting chances inside the penalty area. His work rate and pressing ability also make him a good fit for Arteta’s high-intensity approach.

In summary, Arsenal’s pursuit of Viktor Gyökeres is in its final stages, with Fabrizio Romano’s latest reports indicating that a deal could be completed soon. With agents in London and discussions around add-ons ongoing, the Gunners are pushing hard to land a striker they believe can lead them to
