The New York Jets will likely look much different in 2025 than in 2024. The team has already decided to move on from Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, and several key players are slated to hit free agency.
Change is expected after going 5-12 in 2024. However, the team has several pieces that it would likely prefer to keep around. Standout cornerback D.J Reed is one of those players, but Reed is expected to leave after making it clear he doesn’t intend on returning.
“I’m ready to go to free agency, bro,” Reed told Go Long’s Tyler Dunne. “I’m ready to see what’s next for me.”
Tyler Dragon of USA Today recently identified the best fits for the top defensive free agents. For Reed, Dragon sees the best fit being the Atlanta Falcons. Regarding Reed and the Falcons, Dragon offered the following:
Reed is in his prime at 28 years old. The corner is a bit undersized at 5’9” but has good coverage skills. He allowed a 57% completion percentage and two touchdowns when targeted during the 2024 NFL season.
Reed could reunite with former Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich in Atlanta. The new Falcons DC knows Reed’s skillset well.
