Ghanaian star Thomas Partey has stressed the importance of Arsenal winning their remaining matches in the English Premier League this term.
The experienced central midfielder was handed his fifth Premier League start of the season against Chelsea on Tuesday and helped Arsenal secure an impressive 5-0 win.
The victory saw the Gunners open a three-point lead atop the league standings and they have six matches left in the current season.
“I’m happy to be back in the team and also to get a win in the derby,” Partey said on the club’s website.
“It’s a really important game, so I’m very happy. Everything depends on us. We have to continue winning our games, we have a few more games left and we have to win them all.
“It was a very good game, we went all out from the beginning because we knew how important this game was. If we don’t approach it right we are not able to win, but we did everything right and I’m really proud of the squad.”
Second-placed Liverpool have a game in hand, but Arsenal have a superior goal difference while third-placed Manchester City are four points behind the Gunners.
However, City have two games in hand and one of them is against Brighton and Hove Albion on Thursday.
