Report: Bears sign WR Maurice Alexander to reserve/future deal

The Chicago Bears are bringing in a wide receiver who knows new head coach Ben Johnson well. According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Bears are signing former Detroit Lions wide receiver Maurice Alexander to a future/reserve contract.

.

Alexander started his career in the USFL in 2022 when he played for the Philadelphia Stars. After a successful spring season where he caught 20 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns, Alexander signed with the Lions prior to the 2022 NFL season. For three years, Alexander has moved between the practice squad and the active roster and has appeared in seven career games, contributing primarily as a returner on special teams. For his career, Alexander has just one catch for seven yards.

Though he has limited game experience, Alexander knows Johnson’s offense well and will bring that knowledge to Chicago as he attempts to make the 2025 roster. Alexander posted a photo on Thursday while he was touring Halas Hall.
