The NFL Draft is just a couple of months away, and the mock boards have been off the charts. Many are speculating that this April’s draft could be one of the most dramatic in recent memory, as there’s no clear-cut first overall pick, unlike in previous years. This uncertainty is largely due to the incredible amount of talent at the top.
Names like Miami’s Cam Ward, Colorado’s Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, and Penn State’s Abdul Carter are all contenders for the No. 1 pick in April. The Titans, who hold the first pick, are expected to choose either Hunter or Ward, given the team’s inconsistent quarterback play and need for a reliable receiver.
For some time now, Sanders has been rumored to be a target for the New York Giants. The buzz started when Sanders received a pair of Giants-colored shoes before Colorado’s bowl game against BYU. The speculation about where Sanders could end up is endless.
At the Shrine Bowl, Sanders and Ward were on the field alongside a Giants fan. The two decided to have a bit of fun and asked the fan who he would prefer the Giants to select.
“He said he was a Giants fan, so I said, ‘Pick one,'” Sanders recalled, pointing to the fan.
The fan hesitated, refusing to give an answer, which caused Ward to burst out laughing.
“Whichever one falls,” the fan finally replied.
“If Travis goes one, Abdul Carter goes two, and we both fall,” Ward joked.
“I’m taking you,” the Giants fan said, pointing to Ward.
When asked why, the fan couldn’t provide an explanation. This exchange humorously highlights the subtle differences between the two quarterbacks.
Ultimately, whichever GM gets Sanders or Ward, the differences between the two aren’t that significant. Both have immense talent and are primed for successful careers in the NFL. It will be fascinating to see whether Sanders or Ward is selected first
